Samadhi Hermitage Long-Term Meditation Cave
Samadhi Hermitage, Madrid, New Mexico, USA 87010

    Our second meditation cave, the "Hermitage Long-term Cave", is now complete. This cave is intended for long term use … a one month or longer retreat. As with the Samadhi Cave, it is a 12 foot diameter Octagon, with 7 foot high walls, built into the hillside. A small kitchen is in the entry area; and, the central chamber is designed with plenty of floor space for movement exercises, yoga, etc. The hillside was cut for this in 2002, yet construction did not start until 2008-9. It was an on and off affair, integrated with construction of our Advaita Ananda Samadhi Ashram, in Ellora, India; thus a 6 year project at both places.

Yuki, watering the walls in 2009. Also,
she cleaned & scraped cement joints,
brought Smoothies
to us all day long, maintaining the masonry marathon;
and did acupuncture on us for most mornings and nights!

The early years!  2009. Most of the stones were collected from the hillside above, a wonderful canyon behind, and in a few other places also.

JT and Ananda know very well we would not have achieved in each of our one week marathons, the amount of work we did to complete the Cave,

without loving touch to the work, cleanup, making smoothies, shopping errands to town, etc. etc. from this great support team!
Thanks everyone, ever sooooo much!
